my name is quez. i started up to zero records in june of 2000 because i wanted to contribute something back to the scene that gave me so much. i love music, mostly underground music, the kind of music your average joe american doesn't even know exists, much less listen to with a passion. give me punk, give me metal, give me hardcore stripped down and redressed as experimental rock, give me whatever, just as long as it rocks and is from the heart. i was originally attempting to make some elaborate website to promote my label, that would blow people's minds. but that isn't what's important. at a time when people will tell you it's all about website hits, myspace friends, record sales, street teams, or even the hair and make-up, you can tend to get distracted and lost. so, in the middle of my frustration with the new website, i decided to do something simple: keep it simple stupid! it's really about the music. and that is what's important. so, as i eat taco bell and work on the new website, i am looking forward to the future and the great things i get to do with all of our bands, new and old.
my first attempt to do something in the scene was vocal duties in a band called emerson. we had a total of one rehersal and two songs, one with vocals. i distinctly remeber the chorus of, "march 'til your death boys. march to your death. march 'til there's nothing left." this may be one of the tiniest fly on the wall labels in our scene, but i intend to do just that. 'march 'til there's nothing left'. thank you to everyone who has helped me out along the way, or shown up to zero any love or support at all. up to zero loves you back.
